AGI WMS Overview

Purpose of this document

This document describes the setup and configuration of the AGI WMS interface from Ceres. AGI WMS is a 3rd party application available for purchase separately from Ceres. Through web services transactions are sent between Ceres and the AGI WMS system. It is necessary to configure the interface properly to facilitate the transfer of information between the systems. Functionality related to the operation of the AGI WMS software is beyond the scope of this document.

Ceres Object release 6.00.00 is required for the functionality described in this document.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Setup and Configuration

WMS Setup

WMS Setup can be accessed by selecting “Search” from the Dynamics 365 Business Central Banner and entering “WMS Setup” in “Tell me what you want to do” then selecting “WMS Setup” from the results in the Go to Pages and Tasks section OR by selecting the “WMS Setup” menu action (if present) from your Role Center home page.

General Tab

Enable WMS Integration: This box should be toggled on to enable the AGI WMS integration. Toggling off will disable all integration with the AGI WMS system.

WMS Invalid Characters: The integration with AGI WMS is done through XML documents that are not compatible with certain characters that can be used with Ceres. This field will contain the list of characters to be stripped from the XML documents between Ceres and the AGI WMS system. It should contain at least the following characters which are known to cause issues:  & # $ < > ” ‘ .

Bin Setup Tab

Note: The AGI WMS system configuration determines the setup of the bins in Ceres. Based on the specific configuration of your AGI AMS system you must configure Ceres Bin setup to match. This will ensure that the bin information between the two systems is compatible. Once configured any bins in a Ceres location enable for AGI WMS will be made to conform to the structure defined here, otherwise, the Ceres will reject the bin setup. There are up to 4 possible segments to the bin definition in AGI WMS. Not all segments are required.

Location Code Length: The defines the overall length of the AGI WMS Location which is called a Ceres Bin. The remaining fields for the Bin Setup must total to this defined length.

Aisle Segment Length: The defines length of the Aisle segment of the bin location structure.

Column Segment Length: The defines length of the Column segment of the bin location structure.

Level Segment Length: The defines length of the Level segment of the bin location structure.

Drawer Segment Length: The defines length of the Drawer segment of the bin location structure.

Export Tab

Import Tab

Note: This tab is normally completed by your implementer and is used to define the journal templates, batches, and number series for imported transactions from the AGI WMS system.

Adjustment Item Jnl. Template: Specifies the item journal template used for inbound item quantity adjustments from the AGI WMS system.

Adjustment Item Jnl. Batch: Specifies the item journal batch used for inbound item quantity adjustments from the AGI WMS system.

Adjustment No. Series: Specifies the number series to be used to assign document numbers to the inbound item quantity adjustments transactions from the AGI WMS system.

Movement Reclass Jnl. Template: Specifies the reclass journal template used for inbound pallet movement transactions from the AGI WMS system.

Movement Reclass Jnl. Batch: Specifies the reclass journal batch used for inbound pallet movement transactions from the AGI WMS system.

Movement No. Series: Specifies the number series to be used to assign document numbers to inbound pallet movement transactions from the AGI WMS system.

Web Service

Web Services can be accessed by selecting “Search” from the Dynamics 365 Business Central Banner and entering “Web Services” in “Tell me what you want to do” then selecting “Web Services” from the results in the Go to Pages and Tasks section OR by selecting the “Web Services” menu action (if present) from your Role Center home page.

Note: This setup is normally completed by your implementer and is used to define the inbound web service code unit that handles the inbound transactions from the AGI WMS system. Code unit 14012381 (WMS Inbound Transfers) needs to be properly configured and published. The SOAP URL will be required on the AGI WMS configuration.

Locations / Zones / Bins / Reason Codes

Locations, Zones and Bins need to be configured for AGI WMS integration. Detailed information for the configuration of these tables can be found in the specific overview documents for each. A quick reference of the AGI WMS related information is provided here as well.

Locations

The AGI WMS FastTab for the location shown here provides the ability to specify the location’s setup when using the AGI Warehouse Management software.

Zones

Exclude From WMS: This new field has been added to zones to enable/disable a specific zone from WMS integration.

Bins

Job Queue Setup

A Job Queue Entry is required to process certain transactions between the Ceres and AGI WMS system. Job Queues are normally configured by your implementer. The information is provided here for reference. Code Unit 14012382 (WMS Job Queue Handler) must be configured as a job queue entry. It is required to be set up as a recurring job running every day at a short delay (2-5 minutes).

Administration

During initial setup or when recommended to do so by Ceres support, it may be necessary to resend information from Ceres to the AGI WMS system. This can be done for Items, Bins, Inventory in Bins, and Inventory Picks. These options can be accessed by searching Queue.

Queue Items

Use this process to resend all Items to the AGI WMS system or apply filters to send a subset of the Items.

Queue Bins

Use this process to resend all Bins to the AGI WMS system or apply filters to send a subset of the Bins.

Note: Only Bins in Locations configured for AGI WMS and not excluded will be sent.

Queue Inventory in Bins

Use this process to resend all Inventory in Bins to the AGI WMS.

Note: Only Inventory in Bins in Locations configured for AGI WMS and not excluded will be sent.

Queue Inventory Picks

Use this process to resend inventory picks to the AGI WMS. You will have the option to send all picks, those that have been previously sent, or those picks that have never been sent to AGI WMS. This is done by changing the Select Queue Option.

WMS Queue

The WMS Queue will show all transactions that have been queued to process but have not been completed. This page will be blank when transactions are processing normally. Should it be necessary to troubleshoot transactions that are not processing this page will help you and the Ceres support team.

WMS Queue can be accessed by selecting “Search” from the Dynamics 365 Business Central Banner and entering “WMS Queue” in “Tell me what you want to do” then selecting “WMS Queue” from the results in the Go to Pages and Tasks section OR by selecting the “WMS Queue” menu action (if present) from your Role Center home page.

Here is an example of the queue with a transaction waiting to be processed.

From Actions you can perform 3 different actions.

Reprocess Entry: This action will attempt to reprocess a transaction that is stuck or may have previously caused an error. The error message field will indicate what type of error occurred. Depending on the issue, it may not be possible to reprocess an entry.

Cancel and Archive: This action will consider the transaction processed and move the entry to the archive queue. Care should be taken when utilizing this action.

Set Status to Pending: This action will reset the status to pending so that it may process during the next cycle of the job queue. It is like reprocessing except that the action will be performed by the job queue and not attempted immediately.

WMS Queue Archive

WMS Queue can be accessed by selecting “Search” from the Dynamics 365 Business Central Banner and entering “WMS Queue” in “Tell me what you want to do” then selecting “WMS Queue” from the results in the Go to Reports and Analysis section OR by selecting the “WMS Queue” menu action (if present) from your Role Center home page.

Here is an example of the queue of processed or canceled and archive transactions. Clicking on a transaction will display the details in the sub form below.
